Chicago, Illinois

What to see:

Chicago is a favorite city for Arielle, mostly because she grew up a little over an hour away from the city and loved to visit once a year. We love to visit Chinatown and chow down on some deep dish pizza. The city seems more like a business area than a place to visit, but there are still many places that make it worth a visit.

What to do:

Visit one of the oldest ballparks in America, Wrigley Field. Walk around the Magnificent Mile shopping area. Check out the Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Riverwalk, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Lincoln Park, Public Library, and various art museums.

Who to bring:

We think that this city would be best experienced by a family or small group of friends. It’s not a romantic city or one with particularly notable nightlife. There are, however, plenty of activities for families to enjoy and great restaurants to try.

How to get around:

Take the L everywhere. It’s an elevated train that goes all around the city. We don’t recommend driving here because of traffic. There are also city buses and Uber of course for places that aren’t as close to the L.

What we did:

We took it easy during our Chicago trip. After all of the walking around in New York, we were ready to just relax and eat some deep dish pizza. We enjoyed our awesome hotel, Club Quarters Hotel Central Loop. We toured Wrigley Field, shopped around the Magnificent Mile, checked out Chinatown and Little Italy, and did the Chicago Riverwalk. We also went to Lincoln Park and visited the zoo and garden as well as Millenium Park to see “The Bean”. It was raining off and on, so we explored when the sun was shining. Our favorite baseball team is indeed, The Chicago Cubs, so that was our favorite part.
